Deputy Prime Minister meets with ADB Director General for East Asia

The Asian Development Bank’s (ADB) Director General for East Asia, Indu Bhushan, met with Deputy Prime Minister U. Enkhtuvshin and talked about projects in Mongolia that are being financed by the ADB.

Bhushan noted that ADB has financed many projects in Mongolia but some recent projects have been progressing very slowly, which can lead to the withdrawal of financing and difficulty in getting authorization for future projects.

The deputy prime minister spoke about an ADB financed project to strengthen the nation's capacity to combat forest fires and severe winter conditions in the National Emergency Management Agency. He also thanked the ADB for granting Mongolia a 600 million USD loan as part of the International Monetary Fund's extended fund facility program.

U. Enkhtuvshin also asked about the possibility of the ADB providing technical assistance and support for the Zamiin-Uud free-trade zone. The ADB Director General said that a free-trade zone is a main focus area for the ADB and that the request will be considered.
