On June 24, 2025, Prime Minister G.Zandanshatar held a virtual meeting with the heads of Mongolia’s diplomatic missions abroad. A total of 34 participants attended the meeting, including ambassadors, consuls general, consuls, and directors from departments and units of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
During the meeting, the Prime Minister provided detailed updates on the government’s policies and ongoing activities. He emphasized the importance of proactive diplomatic efforts to mitigate the economic impacts caused by the international situation and to address major development challenges facing Mongolia.
The Prime Minister instructed all diplomatic missions to uphold Mongolia’s core foreign policy principles, peaceful, open, independent, and multi-pillar, in navigating today’s complex international landscape. He called for balanced and well-understood relations with both neighboring and third-neighbor countries, stressing the need to maintain Mongolia’s foreign policy position and ensure unity and coordination in external affairs.
He also outlined the government's goal of maintaining policy stability and operational continuity, rooted in a strategy of efficient governance. He explained that the government is working to streamline the state structure to be more compact, coherent, and accountable. This reform is not merely a cost-saving measure, he said, but a strategic overhaul aimed at unifying policymaking, implementation, and accountability through a "single-window" approach, while eliminating institutional overlaps. As part of this effort, the government is considering submitting the “Savings Amendment” to Parliament.
The Prime Minister emphasized that foreign relations are a top priority and serve as a cornerstone for national resilience and development. He also underscored the importance of foreign policy coherence, calling for a disciplined approach based on national laws, official policy documents, and clear procedural guidelines. He urged the sector to fully embrace the "single-window" principle and directed all government bodies to coordinate with relevant ministries when planning and conducting foreign engagements.
During the meeting, ambassadors, particularly those representing Mongolia in the Russian Federation and the People’s Republic of China, briefed the Prime Minister on the current status and challenges in bilateral cooperation. They also received instructions and guidance on next steps and future diplomatic initiatives.
