134 new measles cases reported in 24 hours

The number of confirmed measles cases in the country has risen to 4,816, with 134 new cases reported in the past 24 hours, according to the National Center for Communicable Diseases (NCCD). As of June 1, the total stood at 4,682.

Out of the total infections, 3,147 patients have recovered, while two deaths have been reported due to the disease.

Measles is a highly contagious but vaccine-preventable viral illness. Health authorities note that the majority of cases are concentrated among secondary school students, prompting strong recommendations for students, educators, and staff in close-contact environments to ensure they are vaccinated to help curb the spread of the disease.

For questions or concerns related to measles and vaccination, the public is encouraged to contact the NCCD hotlines at 8901-6199 and 7510-3100.
