Mongolian peacekeepers on the operations by United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) saved approximately 30 refugees who were in the risk of being kidnapped.
On Feb 22, 2017, military against the government beaten and abused 30 civilians working in the vegetable garden located near patrol base. Moreover, they robbed the civilians who were going to the domestic refugee camp and attempted to take military-age males.
At that time armored patrols in Battalion and tactical group took an immediate action against the military and saved the civilians by besieging them.
Mongolian peacekeepers have duty to ensure safety of 120 thousand people in domestic refugee camp, located in Bentiu city, distribution of World Food Program, patrols, civilians and officials of UN and other international organizations.
