Governor of the capital city and Mayor of Ulaanbaatar D.Sumiyabazar received a delegation led by members of the House of Representatives of Japan Shunichi Yamaguchi, Masayasu Yamasaki, Honorary Consul of Mongolia in Tokushima, and Chairman of Japan-Mongolia Association Japan Kawauchi Shiro.
During the meeting, on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Mongolia and Japan, the Honorary Consul of Mongolia in Tokushima, Kawauchi Shiro, was awarded the Khangardi Order in recognition of his valuable contribution to the expansion of relations between Mongolia and Japan and the strengthening of cultural cooperation since 2010.
From Japan, about 150 representatives arrived for the ‘Milky Way’ dance festival organized in Ulaanbaatar as part of the anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
Mayor expressed that Japan is Mongolia's ‘third neighbor’ and the relations and cooperation between the sides have expanded in all fields over the past 50 years and reached a strategic partnership. He also mentioned that the Japanese government supported Mongolia and made an important contribution to fighting the COVID-19 pandemic.
It was emphasized that large-scale development projects are being carried out in Ulaanbaatar, which is funded by Japan.
At the end of the meeting, member of the House of Representatives of Japan Shunichi Yamaguchi emphasized that the ‘Milky Way’ dance festival is a major event that can be a symbol of harmony between the two countries, and expressed his thanks to the capital city authorities for their support. He also expressed his readiness to further develop mutually beneficial economic and social cooperation.
