Foreign Minister D. Tsogtbaatar traveled on an official visit to Japan from February 21 through 25.
During the visit, the foreign minister held meetings with his counterpart, Taro Kono; Chairman the Mongolia-Japan Friendship Group in Japanese Parliament Motoo Hayashi; Japanese Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Hiroshige Seko; Japanese Minister of Health, Labour and Welfare Katsunobu Kato; and Japanese Minister in Charge of the Tokyo Olympics and Paralympic Games Shunichi Suzuki.
Minister D. Tsogtbaatar talked about bilateral relations and cooperation with officials from Japan International Cooperation Agency, Japan Bank for International Cooperation, Japan External Trade Organization, and the Japanese Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
The parties highlighted that the two countries will continue to commit to the Japan-Mongolia Mid-term Action Plan for Strategic Partnership, as well as expanding relations in the fields of politics, defense, the economy, trade, culture, and education.
D. Tsogtbaatar thanked Japan for its long history of support for Mongolia. Foreign Affairs Minister Taro Kono noted that the Japanese government is drafting a master plan for producing value-added products from Mongolian agriculture resources. In addition, Minister D. Tsogtbaatar pointed out that it is important to study the possibility of establishing visa waivers between the two countries immediately.
