On Friday December 4th the Australian Volunteers for International Development (AVID) program, in partnership with the Mongolian Youth Federation, will host an event to celebrate volunteering in Mongolia at Mongolian Youth Federation Hall, opposite Urgoo Cinema 2 during 11am-1pm.
The event will be run in conjunction with International Volunteer Day events around the globe. The event aims to raise awareness of the role of volunteers in Mongolia and to show appreciation to volunteers for their efforts. It also hopes to provide current volunteers and organizations an opportunity to share experiences and expand their volunteer networks.
The Network of Mongolian Volunteer Organizations estimates there are at least 31,000 volunteers in Mongolia. These volunteers contribute 4.8 billion tugriks worth of value in the health, social work and the education sector alone. International Volunteer Day is a unique chance for volunteers and organizations to celebrate their efforts, to share their values, and to promote their work.
The event will include networking sessions, speeches from Mongolian and international volunteers as well as games and activities. The event is expecting over 70 volunteers as well as organizational representatives from the AVID program, the Australian Government representatives Mr Brendan Coyne, Consul General and Trade Commissioner and Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade local staff, the Mongolian National Volunteers Network and the Mongolian Youth Federation.
“We wanted to celebrate the vital role volunteers play in peace and development in Mongolia and worldwide. We have been inspired by the passion, dedication and commitment volunteers show in their work and we wanted to recognize the contribution they make to their community and this wonderful country,” reported event organizers.
