USD 4.6 billion worth deals in plan between firms of Mongolia and PRC

At the invitation of his counterpart Li Keqiang, Mongolian Prime Minister Kurelsukh Ukhnaa is paying an official visit to the People’s Republic of China between April 8 and 12.

Following the official welcoming ceremony, the two premiers held talks. “This visit will bring new start to the bilateral relations of the two countries,” Mr Li Keqiang noted. In response, Mr Khurelsukh Ukhnaa expressed that he is fully confident that “the visit will play an important role in the relations and cooperation of the two countries.”

“China and Mongolia are very important neighbours. Expanding mutual trust in politics, concrete cooperation and humanitarian exchanges are beneficial to not only bilateral relations, but also for regional peace and development,” the Chinese Premier highlighted. During the talks, the Premiers discussed on expanding comprehensive strategic partnership, and making progress in mutually beneficial cooperation on political, economic, trade and humanitarian sectors and exchanged views on regional and international issues of mutual interest.

On the side note, Mongolia-PRC business forum will be held on Thursday. Ministry of Foreign Affairs Tsogtbaatar Damdin informed that a total of 36 agreements worth USD 4.6 billion is in plan to be established between the firms of two countries during the forum.

So far, Mongolia and China have signed agreements on cooperation and Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) worth USD 450 million, including a project on establishing a new wastewater treatment facility in Ulaanbaatar. Additionally, Mongolian Finance Minister Khurelbaatar Chimed and Chinese Minister of Commerce Zhong Shan signed an agreement of granting an non-refundable aid of CNY 2 billion from the Government of the PRC.
