The Government of Mongolia and United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNISDR) will be organizing the Asian Ministerial Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction (AMCDRR) from July 16 through 19, in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia.
In preparation for the conference, the National Emergency Management Agency met with officials from foreign embassies, diplomatic missions, and international organizations to discuss plans for the conference.
The meeting was attended by representatives from the embassies of the U.S., Australia, China, Japan, South Korea, India, Russia, Cuba, North Korea, the Lao People’s Democratic Republic, the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, and Canada; as well as representatives from the United Nations, UNICEF, World Health Organization, the UN Food and Agriculture Organization , Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation, Mongolian Red Cross Society, the World Bank, Asian Development Bank, Mercy Corps, United States Agency for International Development, Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency, Korea International Cooperation Agency, and Japan International Cooperation Agency.
The meeting was organized to introduce conference preparation, to receive input from the officials in attendance, and to get support for host the conference successfully.
