President of Mongolia and Commander-in-Chief of the Mongolian Armed Forces Ts.Elbegdorj made opening remarks at the “Khaan Quest 2016” international exercises for peacekeeping operation, which commenced on Sunday at the “Tavantolgoi” military training field.
In his speech, the President said as a member of the international community, Mongolia is aware of its commitment to contribute to building the peace and security in the world, as such Mongolian troops serve in the international peacekeeping operations with high reputation.
Co-organized annually by the Mongolian Armed Forces and the United States Pacific Command (USPACOM) since 2006, this year’s exercises are special for they are carried out in collaboration with the UN Global Peace Operations Initiative program.
Present at the opening ceremony were Major-General D.Davaa, Chief of the General Headquarters of Mongolian Armed Forces (GHMAF); authorities of the GHMAF, the Defense Ministry, military personnel of foreign countries, military attaches of Embassies and representatives of the media.
The present exercises brought together some 2,000 servicemen from 47 countries including Russia, China, USA, Japan, South Korea, Germany, UK and India.
