E.Sodnompiljee Wins SILVER and Completes Paralympic Medal Collection

On the final day of the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games, Sodnompiljee Enkhbayar competed in the men's para powerlifting -107 kg category and secured a silver medal. He successfully lifted 248 kg in three attempts, completing his collection of Paralympic medals and becoming the first Mongolian athlete to win medals in three consecutive Paralympic Games.

The 39-year-old Sodnompiljee previously won a bronze medal at the 2016 Rio Paralympics and set a Paralympic record of 245 kg at the Tokyo 2020 Games. His attempts in Paris 2024 Paralympic Games were as follows:

  • 243 kg
  • 248 kg
  • 260 kg (Unsuccessful)

Iran’s 42-year-old Aliakbar Gharibshahi, who had broken the world record by lifting 254 kg at the 2022 World Championships, took the gold, lifting 252 kg and setting a new Paralympic record.
