The “Ulaanbaatar” winter walking festival will take place on February 15–16, 2025, with the aim of promoting winter tourism, creating new tourism experiences, extending the tourist season, and encouraging healthy, active lifestyles among citizens.
Representatives from Mongolia, Japan, Korea, the Czech Republic, the People’s Republic of China, the People’s Republic of China’s Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, and Italy will participate in the festival, and more than 250 walkers have registered to participate.
The walking festival will follow two routes:
- February 15: From the International Children’s Nairamdal Center to Javkhlant Station
- February 16: From the National Park to the Sky Resort ski resort
Since 2016, the Capital Tourism Department, Mongolia’s Ministry of Tourism, Jeju City of South Korea, and the Jeju Olle Association have been collaborating to develop and mark hiking trails around Ulaanbaatar that meet Olle trail standards. The walking festival builds on this partnership, aiming to enhance outdoor tourism and promote Ulaanbaatar as a winter destination.
