In Mongolia, there are about 1200 children with visual impairment. 200 of them are receiving educational services. In order to improve quality of education for children with visual impairment, following works have to be done.
- Improve the supply of Braille textbooks
- Increase variable costs of children in kindergarten and NUCB
- Update curriculum of NUCB
A working group to study and resolve this issue will be established jointly by the Ministry of Education and Science and the National Federation of the Blind.
There are 11 thousand citizens with visual impairment in Mongolia, and 6000 of them are at working age. According to the National Federation of the Blind, 97 percent of the working age population is unemployed. The low employment rate is related to educational sector. The working group will work on this issue.
