Organizers of the “It’s Easy to Resign” protest movement held a formal meeting with Speaker of Parliament D.Amarbayasgalan, J.Bat-Erdene, Chairman of the Standing Committee on State Structure, and representatives from five political parties currently represented in the Parliament.
Following the meeting, O.Ulamsaikhan, one of the protest’s key organizers, spoke to journalists outside the State Palace and shared the outcomes of the discussion.
-Our goal was to hear the Speaker’s stance and whether Prime Minister L.Oyun-Erdene’s motion for a vote of confidence was appropriate. The Speaker responded that since the draft resolution had already been submitted, it could not be retracted, and Parliament would proceed according to legislative procedure.
We were glad to meet with a wide range of officials. But we didn’t receive the full response we sought. The Standing Committee on State Structure is expected to make a decision within three days, after which Parliament will decide within ten days.
This may not be the outcome we originally demanded, but it’s a tangible result. Of the three main demands we submitted, two have essentially been met. Now, members of Parliament will have to respond. We will continue to follow developments closely, maintain our presence, and expand our protest efforts.
The conversation was recorded on camera by the MPA agency, and we plan to formally request the Speaker’s Office to release the full footage to the public. I am not paid with taxpayers’ money. Therefore, I am not obligated to respond to news about me. My personal life is not connected to this protest. Noorog is also irrelevant. I remain focused on the protest’s demands".
The “It’s Easy to Resign” protest has now entered its 14th day.
