ANALYST: Illegal mining was operated in Dundgovi province for a decade and land was completely destroyed

On May 30, the hearing to analyze the evidence related to the "Mineral License" continued for the second day.

And the expert has presented his opinion on micro-mining.

At first, by the order of the Minister of Industry and Trade, the temporary regulations for the exploring minerals by non-industrial methods were approved. Since 1990, the Nalaikh factory has been closed and the miners have lost their jobs. At that time, people called "ninjas" appeared during the difficult period of social transition. In 2007, there were 100,000 of these people. At that time, the Ministry of the sector approved the temporary regulations regulating the activities of citizens who are mining minerals privately. And the pictures showing the procedure in chronological order were presented.

In 2022, the regulation of micro-mining was approved, with the content that small-scale mining can be engaged in only for the purpose of rehabilitating used mining areas.

For example in 2009-2019, spar was mined by small-scale mining in  Ar Tsagaan and Atsat Khuren fields in the Khuld soum area of Dundgovi province. During this period, the technical conditions of the mountain in the area were difficult, there were steep vertical walls, and the excavation of eyebrows violated the safe operation of small-scale mining. This proved to be a complete destruction of the place. By the time the experts arrived, the equipment had been put back into operation at the site.

Also, by the name of exploring minerals by micro-mining, there is a tendency to increase common mistakes in the implementation of the regulations, such as deliberately bringing illegal miners into the damaged areas, using equipment larger than what is prescribed in the regulations.
