According to "The “State Budget Law-2016”, the cost of running the 2016 parliamentary election has been estimated as MNT 14.6 billion. The director of the General Election Commission, D.Sodnomtseren stated: “According to our initial estimation, the organizing cost of the election was projected as MNT 20 billion. We reduced this amount to MNT 16.5 billion, taking into consideration the economic difficulties, which is MNT 300 million less than the 2012 election cost. We submitted this estimation to the Ministry of Finance and following discussion led to reduce the election budget further to MNT 14.6 billion. For this reason, we have officially proposed that there should be no reduction to the election budget”.
