O.Altangerel: No criminal charges filed against anyone associated with "Noorog"

O.Altangerel, Minister of Justice and Internal Affairs, addressed the Standing Committee on Justice regarding the ongoing investigation related to "Noorog," clarifying that no criminal charges have been filed against anyone connected to the case so far.

He stated that on March 17, 2025, urgent legal actions were taken, raising concerns about potential violations of freedom of expression. In response to these concerns, he sought clarification from the Police on whether any legal violations had occurred during the operation.

According to the clarification provided, the actions were carried out as part of an ongoing criminal investigation. Given the public's repeated concerns about potential human rights violations, O.Altangerel instructed the Police to ensure transparency and provide information in accordance with legal procedures.

He also noted that he had presented the matter within the Government, considering whether human rights and freedom of expression were at risk. Since taking office, O.Altangerel said he has received numerous complaints from citizens who have suffered losses due to online gambling. In response, he called on the Chief of Police Department to intensify efforts to combat these crimes.

While there have been various reports regarding the situation, O.Altangerel emphasized that law enforcement officers are carrying out their duties in accordance with the law. He urged committee members to maintain a balanced perspective as the investigation continues.
