The UB Food Festival is taking place at Sukhbaatar Square from April 8-14, aiming to promote tourism, showcase international culinary traditions, and highlight the cultural vibrancy of Ulaanbaatar.
Kh.Nyambaatar, Governor of the capital and Mayor of Ulaanbaatar, stated, “We will hold the UB Food Festival during the second week of April every year to introduce both Mongolian and international food cultures to citizens and visitors. While the peak of the tourism season in Mongolia falls in June and July, our goal is to attract tourists earlier during the quieter months of April and May through international events like UB Food”.
The Mayor also emphasized the importance of engaging local residents: “We want the citizens of Ulaanbaatar to take interest in the culinary cultures of other nations. A public survey will be conducted to determine which country’s national cuisine to feature next year, and the event will be organized accordingly. We’re developing plans to grow tourism around the concept of international meal”.
One standout feature of this year’s event is the massive festival pavilion, the largest ever built in Mongolia. Following the food festival, it will be used to host a "Circus Week," as well as e-sports competitions, ankle bone shooting matches, and 3x3 basketball tournaments, all aimed at drawing in more visitors and boosting local tourism.
