L.Oyun-Erdene, the Prime Minister of Mongolia, held a meeting with the former Prime Ministers of Mongolia on November 2, 2021.
N.Enkhbayar and Ts.Elbegdorj, former Presidents and Prime Ministers of Mongolia, Sh.Gungaadorj, M.Enkhsaikhan, M.Enkhbold, S.Bayar, S.Batbold, N.Altankhuyag and J.Erdenebat, former Prime Ministers of Mongolia accepted the invitation of L.Oyun-Erdene, current Prime Minister of Mongolia.
At the beginning of the meeting, PM L.Oyun-Erdene provided detailed information on the social and economic situation during the Covid-19 period, and introduced how to protect health, restore the economy during the pandemic, and reduce restricting factors. Former Prime Ministers discussed the current situation, the problems they face, their decisions and policies, and their experiences. They also discussed current issues such as Oyu Tolgoi and inflation.
The former Prime Ministers agreed that unity and stability are important in Mongolia during this time of pandemic and agreed on supporting the private sector and increasing public participation in government decisions. The Policy Council of the Prime Ministers will be established with purposes of ensuring the continuity of the Government's policies and directions and providing professional and methodological support. And current PM will be a Chairman of the Council and former PM J.Erdenebat will be a Deputy Chairman. The Council will exchange views on important social and economic issues of the country.
PM L.Oyun-Erdene paid a special tribute to former Prime Minister D.Byambasuren and met with him. Former Prime Ministers D.Sodnom and R.Amarjargal also stated that they could not attend the meeting due to respectful reasons. Former Prime Minister and current President of Mongolia U.Khurelsukh is attending the World Summit on Climate Change in Glasgow, United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
