81,000 people attend “Mongol” nomadic winter festival

As part of the Mongolian Government’s “Year to visit Mongolia” initiative for 2023-2025, the inaugural “Mongol” Nomadic winter festival was successfully held on February 16-22 at the National Park. The festival aimed to showcase Mongolia’s rich intangible cultural heritage, highlight traditional Mongolian Lunar New Year celebrations, and promote related rituals and customs.

Coinciding with the Winter Snow and Ice Festival, this event also featured the winter traditions of Mongolia’s seven-season cultural heritage and raised awareness about the Mazaalai bear, an endangered species unique to Mongolia.

A total of 81,300 visitors attended the festival, engaging in performances, events, educational programs, and exhibitions. The event was organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports, Tourism, and Youth, in collaboration with the Capital City Department of Culture and Arts and the Provincial Department of Culture and Arts.

The Department of Culture and Arts expressed its gratitude to all cultural heritage practitioners, artists, organizers, and attendees for their contributions to preserving and promoting Mongolia’s nomadic way of life and cultural traditions.
