Outcomes of the Japan-Mongolia Economic Partnership Agreement

It has been one year and five months since the Japan-Mongolia Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA) came into effect.

According to the National Statistics Office, exports to Japan totaled 9.3 million USD as of September 2017, the same amount as 2016. Processed cashmere export decreased by four percent compared to last year, reaching 743,000 USD.

Imports from Japan, on the other hand, have increased by 29.4 percent, reaching 282.7 million USD in the first nine months of 2017. Japanese vehicle imports increased by 18.5 percent over 2016, and reached 180.1 million USD. The number of visitors from Japan to Mongolia increased by 11.3 percent compared to 2016, with 19,560 visitors received in the first nine months of this year.

The number of visitors from Mongolia to Japan increased by 12.1 percent this year, reaching 19,766.
