P.Naranbayar, the Minister of Education, has announced changes to the academic calendar for the 2025-2026 school year, extending the winter break and adjusting the school schedule.
- The structure of the academic year is approved by the Minister of Education in accordance with the law. Therefore, within this authority, we are announcing a new structure for the 2025-2026 academic year, which will begin on September 1. This change does not apply to the remainder of the 2024-2025 academic year.
The adjustment is necessary and beneficial for students. Under the new structure, the academic year will continue to be divided into three terms. However, the winter break will be extended.
For elementary school students, classes will end on December 15, and they will return to school on January 26. This means they will have a total of six weeks of winter break. This change aims to reduce congestion and lower the spread of colds and flu. Additionally, we will notify other ministries to coordinate parental leave accordingly.
For middle and high school students, classes will end on December 22, giving them a five-week break. However, high school students will have online classes during the first seven days of their break.
As the winter break is being extended by one week, the school year will also be extended by one week in June. The additional week, from June 15-19, will be part of the 42nd week of the school year. Exams will take place from June 8-12.
