SouthGobi Sands is claimed for tax evasion worth MNT 35 billion T.Sukhbaatar, Head of National Procesution Office, G.Gereltuya, Monitoring Prosecutor at Capital City Prosecutor Office.

(Ulaanbaatar) Jan 16, State Prosecution Office reported today that SouthGobi Sands LLC case has been transferred to District primary court hearing after secondary investigations completed.

On May 3rd od 2012 case against D.Batkhuyag then Head of the Mineral Resources Agency was raised on possible corruption and misuse of the position in accordance with the Criminal Code and Justin Kapla, President of SouthGobi Sands LLC on possible money laundering, tax evasion and corruption.

State Prosecution Office is claiming that Justin Kapla during his post as CEO of SouthGobi Sands LLC reported fradulent tax reporting for 2011 to evade from taxes worth of MNT 35 billion conspiring with then Financial Manager Hilarion Cajucom Jr. The case was investigated carefully twice in order to avoid any mistakes and has been transferred to the Dictrict Primary Court hearing in December 2014.

Procecution Office also reported on distraining some of the property and freezed the bank accounts of SouthGobi Sands LLC.
