61.3 % of religious organizations in Mongolia are Christian

61.3 % of religious organizations in Mongolia are Christian

"Churches and Religious Organizations 2014 Census Report" showed that over 372 churches and religious organizations are operating in Ulaanbaatar.

Ten types of religions, representing different religous categories of each are conducting its activities, some of which has licenses, while some are not licensed.

Two third of these religious organizations or 61.3% of them are Christian and 28.5% of them are Buddhist. 

Electronic database, which conducts census, register, and locating the licensed or unlicensed churches and religious organizations operating in Mongolia, was established.

Census was conducted from 15th of November to 5th of December, 2014.

  • Bayanzurkh district - 92,
  • Songinokhairkhan district - 72,
  • Bayangol district - 59,
  • Sukhbaatar district - 44,
  • Chingeltei district - 40,
  • Khan-Uul district - 38,
  • Nalaikh district - 16,
  • Baganuur district has 11 church or religious organizations.

55.8% of licensed churches in Ulaanbaatar city operating in its own buildings for church, 18.3% of churches operate in rent buildings, 25.8% conduct its activities at private houses of heads of churches or followers. 

1921 employees are working at licensed 283 churches and 1219 of them are working for Buddhist churches, 599 of them are working for Christian, 9 employers are working for Islamic, while 32 employers are working for Shamanist religions.

There are 4577 volunteers and 4115 of volunteers are Christian.

38 foreigners are working for licensed churches in Ulaanbaatar and 71.1% of them are working for Christian churches.
