No updates recorded on air quality monitoring websites since Feb 12th

According to the latest update on agaar.mn, an air quality monitoring webstie, levels of PM2.5 particulates reached;

  • 2374 micrograms per cubic meter in Bayanhoshuu,
  • 961 micrograms per cubic meter at an area nearby Tolgoit as of Feb 12th at 12:30 pm.

No updates were recorded at the air quality monitoring website since then due to air quality measuring stations are having Internet problem.

According to the WHO air quality guidelines, air pollution is safe if amount of particles in air is not higher than 25 microns but it is dangerous if particles amount is higher than 301 microns.

Levels of PM2.5 particulates, which are the most hazardous to health, in heavily polluted areas of Ulaanbaatar city exceeds 94 times above the recommended levels, as compared with the World Health Organization safe level of 25.

CAUTIONARY STATEMENT

Everyone should avoid all physical activity outdoors; people with heart or lung disease, older adults, and children should remain indoors and keep activity levels low.

Households should close the window during the most polluted periods (from 6AM to 10AM and 5PM to 9PM).
