Mongolia is hosting a number of events in celebration of World Poetry Days on August 16-22.
Information on the event was given at a press conference held at the “Consensus” hall, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs today, August 16. During the event, the Mongolian Academy of Culture and Poetry will organize various events with participation of some 200 poets, writers, translators, cultural and art figures from about 40 countries.
World Poetry Day is celebrated on 21 March, and was declared by UNESCO (the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) in 1999. This event has several objectives to promote the reading, writing, publishing and teaching of poetry throughout the world and to give fresh recognition and impetus to national, regional and international poetry movements.
