Capital Market to be developed with Japan cooperation

Z.Narantuya, Commisioner of the Financial Regulatory Commission and representatives of Bank of Mongolia worked in Japan during March 17-19.

Mongolian delegation met with the representatives of Financial Services Agency, JICA, Tokyo Stock Exchange, Tokyo Commodities Exchange, Securities Depository Corporation, Clearing Corporation and other financial entities on the cooperation opportunities to improve capital market in Mongolia.

As a result a three year project to improve the capacity of Mongolian capital markets is to be implemented according to the trilateral MOU with Mongolian Financial Regulatory Commission, Japanese Financial Services Agency and JICA.  During the working meeting of Z.Narantuya, Commissioner of Mongolian Financial Regulatory Commission and Kiyoshi Hosomizo, Commissioner of the Financial Services Agency have discussed the details of the cooperation project. Project envisions the improvement of the policy planning and research capacities of the Financial Regulatory Commission, introduction of the risk based monitoring system, restructure Mongolian Stock Exchange (MSE) and Securities Clearing House as self regulatory agencies, privatization of state companies through the MSE, IPOs and study the opportunities of double listing on Japanese stock exchanges.

Moreover Securities Depository Corporation and Clearing Corporation of Japan is to help advancing the activities and operations of Mongolian Securities Depository and Clearing House to world standards.

While Tokyo Stock Exchange and Commodities Exchange have expressed their interest in coopertation on improving of the MSE and Agriculture Stock Exchange and establishing of the commodities exchange in Mongolian market.
