Mongolia’s Russia-Mongolia-China economic corridor working group recently met. On May 30, 2017, then Prime Minister J. Erdenebat issued a decree to implement the economic corridor program.
The working group meeting was chaired by Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs B. Battsetseg and attended by representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Road and Transportation Development, Ministry of Energy, the National Development Agency, the Communications and Information Technology Authority, Mongolian Customs Agency, General Agency for Specialized Inspection, Agency for Standardization and Metrology, Development Bank of Mongolia, and Erdenes Mongol LLC.
The meeting addressed Mongolia’s policy on establishing a central road and railway corridor in the scope of expanding economic potential. They also discussed possible cooperation with China and Russia on upgrading the nation's energy network, and other work to be done before the next trilateral meeting.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has stated that the next economic corridor meeting is scheduled to take place in Ulaanbaatar in the first quarter of 2018.
