During its regular session on June 20, Cabinet discussed accelerating activities at the Tavan Tolgoi mine.
The government plans to carry out several measures to establish additional infrastructure at the coal mine to increase its economic benefits. Part of the plan includes trading up to 30 percent of the project's shares on the Mongolian Stock Exchange and in the international market in order to raise capital.
Cabinet intends to immediately commence the construction of paved roads for Tavan Tolgoi-Gashuunsukhait, Tavan Tolgoi-Zuunbayan, Tavan Tolgoi-Oyu Tolgoi-Khangi routes, and to build Tavan Tolgoi-Gashuunsukhait and Tavan Tolgoi-Zuunbayan railway routes as well. The Mongolian People’s Party Caucus in Parliament and the National Security Council of Mongolia have supported Cabinet’s plan for the intensification of Tavan Tolgoi activities, and Cabinet is working to soon submit their plan to Parliament.
