PHOTO: Journalists demonstrate with slogan “Press freedom is declined”

The World Press Freedom Day is on May 3. In Mongolia, there are over 600 media companies operating and 4500 employees.

This year's World Press Freedom Day is being celebrated under the slogan "Journalism should be the face of environmental protection". Also, on this day, journalists are organizing the demonstration "Press freedom is declined" at the Sukhbaatar square.

B.Uuganbayar, CEO of the Union of Mongolian Journalists, said “In the past, the legal framework of journalism has been neglected. Freedom of the press concerns everyone. Amendments must be made on the approved law related to journalism. There is no law to protect people who are working in the media. For example, someone assaults a cameraman and breaks his camera. And there is no law that protects. If you touch the body of a lawyer or police officer, you are criminally responsible. And journalists are reflected in the UN Convention as defenders of human rights”.
