D.Amarbayasgalan, Speaker of the Parliament, accompanied by Member of Parliament E.Bolormaa, visited eight soums of Khovd province, including Altai, Uyench, Bulgan, Must, Jargalant, Khovd, Erdeneburen, and Buyant, meeting with over 2,700 residents. During these meetings, 156 residents raised over 300 questions and received responses from the parliamentary delegation.
D.Amarbayasgalan highlighted the importance of parliament members engaging with their constituents during parliamentary recess to introduce newly adopted laws, listen to public concerns, and reflect citizens' voices in future policies. The Speaker emphasized that the current parliament, comprising 126 members after the constitutional amendment, has taken significant steps toward advancing long-delayed mega projects and is fostering a pluralistic approach, with representation from five political parties, coalitions, and various experts.
The parliament recently approved a strategic plan for the next four years aimed at ensuring citizen-oriented governance and protecting human rights. The plan seeks to address criticisms that the law does not adequately serve citizens and struggles to reach government officials.
During the meeting in Buyant soum, residents voiced their concerns about various local issues, including halting operations at the Khalzan Burgedei rare earth deposit, renovating the hospital building constructed in 1981, expanding the school gym, and addressing the tax and loan interest burden. In response, the Speaker assured citizens that necessary infrastructure and construction projects would be prioritized in next year’s budget. He also confirmed that the issues surrounding the hospital and gym would be resolved and that careful consideration would be given to the matter of the Khalzan Burgedei deposit before making relevant decisions.
Residents of Khovd province expressed their gratitude for the Speaker’s efforts to visit remote areas, listen to their concerns, and work toward resolving urgent local problems. According to the press service of the Parliament, the visit reinforced the government’s commitment to addressing regional challenges and promoting inclusive development.
