The Athletes' Union has submitted information to the National Information Center regarding ongoing concerns within the Mongolian Football Federation (MFF), citing irregularities in its recent presidential election and broader issues affecting the sport's governance.
Representatives of Mongolian football players have voiced strong opposition to what they describe as an illegal election process. According to the players, the election committee operates under the influence of a single individual, violating the federation’s own rules and failing to uphold the principles of transparency and fairness.
Players also raised concerns about the disrespect and mistreatment of athletes and key football figures, as well as allegations of internal financial misconduct within the federation. A temporary committee reportedly submitted a formal request for these issues to be addressed, but no response has been received to date.
"The entire football community has rejected the election results" the players’ representatives stated. "The Mongolian football sector is now under political influence. We, the players, are uncertain about what steps to take next and have decided to suspend all matches."
The Mongolian Players Association, established in 2020, had previously submitted an application to become a member of the MFF board but was not accepted. The association noted that the federation currently has 52 members, yet athletes themselves are excluded from voting rights.
“Football cannot exist without players, yet we are given no voice. This is not the fault of the athletes, but a result of poor governance and lack of clear policy,” a representative said. “We are doing our best to save Mongolian football”.
