City Mayor S.Batbold introduced a project to establish tourist zone at surrounding areas of Gandantegchilen Monastery.
In scope of the project, a new tourism district with the service center, apartments, religious antique stores, wax museum and Mongolian restaurant will be built combining both modern and old traditional styles at a total of 1.9 hectares of land.
Thus, the current residential sites need to be released. The city is offering temporary residential apartments for citizens who are now living in surrounding areas of Gandan. A total of 68 households need to release the land and currently, 25 of them were moved.
The new district is projected will be commissioned in 2018-2019.
