FIRST OF ALL, WE HAVE TO REVISE THE LAW ON MNCCI
Last week, Amartuvshin Otgondavaa was elected as the new Chairman of the Mongolian National Chamber of Commerce and industry (MNCCI). Soon after his appointment, the newly elect chairman announced to revise the Law on MNCCI to prevent government intervention in businesses.
“The MNCCI's intention is to ensure government support in private sector, protect businesses from government pressure, and improve their current business environment. In addition, it is important to emphasize the importance of the chamber’s own role as a barrier to foreign and domestic trade and to facilitate policy advocacy,” addressed Mr. Amartuvshin.
He added, "First of all, we have to revise the law on MNCCI so that it would ensure a unity between nongovernmental organizations with the aim of protecting business interests and integrating them into operations. The law on chamber was first adopted in 1995, and it has been over 20 years. During this period, the business environment has changed dramatically in terms of economic conditions, foreign and domestic trade flows. Therefore, the law should meet the current legal requirements. We will make sure that membership of the polItIcs chamber is officially registered and the correct".
MNCCI involves the Largest number of business entities and non-governmental organizations. The membership includes over 3,000 organizations nationwide. However, the amount does not count all of state-owned enterprises.
Mr.Amartuvshin also highlighted the importance of having 40,000 active members to engage them in the MNCCI policies and activities. “Many economic relations with Mongolia are resolved by the judicial principle, without considering the fact that arbitration is the right kind of business regulation. Solving economic disputes between two businesses by criminal law is not an appropriate decision.
Therefore, it is crucial that we reducing the state's intervention in business and implementing long-term policies that will maintain sustainable business environment” remarked the new Chairman of the MNCCI.
