ULAANBAATAR (GoGo Mongolia) - The Mongolian Buddhist center has revealed that His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama will pay his 9th visit, with the last being in 2011, to Mongolia on November 18-22 and is scheduled to stay at the Ikh Tenger complex.
His Holiness is scheduled to deliver a public address at the Central Cultural Place and Wrestler's Palace. Moreover, he will attend a Buddhist meeting, which is being held on November 14-21 at the Gandan Monastery.
The 14th Dalai Lama had first visited Mongolia in 1979. When he arrived back in 2002, the Chinese side had protested the visit and had closed the border with Mongolia for two days.
Z. Sanjdorj, a highest lama, Ikh Khuree monastery, and head of the Mongolian Buddhist center, said he contested the visit of the 14th Dalai Lama, adding that he was Mongolian and had the right to say it as he had a heart that beats for Mongolia.
Sanjdorj said it is regretful for him to invite the 14th Dalai Lama in Mongolia due to superstition and a cult of personality, which were even denied by the two neighbours of the country: Russia and China.
The 14th Dalai Lama interferes in our country's internal affairs and enthroned more than 20 Khutughtus. However, it is illegal to enthrone Khutughtus in Mongolia, Sanjdorj said.
In addition, he has discouraged the Dolgyal practice, creating two opposing forces in Mongolia and has praised its own practice. Moreover, he enthroned the 9th Bogd Jebtsundamba Khutughtu's reincarnation after 60 years as a person, who was born in 1936 and was his relative. This visit is not perfect at that time, he highlighted.
Following prolonged and meticulous investigations, His Holiness the Dalai Lama strongly discourages Tibetan Buddhists from propitiating the fierce spirit known as Dolgyal (Shugden).
Although he once practised Dolgyal propitiation, His Holiness renounced the practice in 1975 after discovering the profound historical, social and religious problems associated with it.
He did so with full knowledge and support of his junior tutor, the late Kyabje Trichang Rinpoche, through whom His Holiness first became associated with the practice.
Even within the Geluk and Sakya schools - the Tibetan Buddhist traditions to which most Dolgyal practitioners belong - the propitiation of this spirit has been controversial throughout its history.
Historical investigation reveals that the Dolgyal practice, with strong sectarian overtones, has a history of contributing to a climate of sectarian disharmony in various parts of Tibet and between various Tibetan communities. Therefore, from 1975 onwards, His Holiness has regularly made public his view that this practice is inadvisable.
