Mongolians due here today for twin friendlies

Mongolian footballers arrive today to play two friendly matches against Myanmar U-23 and U-21 teams which will take place at Thuwana Stadium in Yangon.

The friendlies are part of the preparations for the local youth teams for their upcoming international engagements.

Mongolia will play Myanmar’s U-21 side on November 24 and two days later the visitors take on the U-23 side. 

There have been three head-to-head meetings between the two countries, Myanmar the victor on two occasions and Mongolia once.

Meanwhile, Myanmar’s U-23 team will compete in the M-150 Cup Thailand is hosting from December 9-15. The tournament will feature, apart from the host nation, teams from Myanmar, Uzbekistan, North Korea, Japan and Vietnam. 

Myanmar is in the same group as Thailand and Vietnam: Group B, while Group A includes Japan, North Korea and Uzbekistan. Group leaders advance to the final.

There is a cash reward of $20,000 for the winning team.
