U.Khurelsukh to TASS news agency: Covid-19 pandemic is punishment of wrong action to nature

U.Khurelsukh,
the President of Mongolia, had an interview with TASS news agency’s First Deputy Director General Mikhail Gusman on Thursday. During the interview, he mentioned that Coronavirus pandemic is a punishment of human wrong action to nature.

The President of Mongolia said “We must focus on global warming and protecting the environment. Maybe I'm a superstitious person. But for me, the current pandemic is a punishment for not loving our environment.

In Mongolia, we started a national campaign to plant 1 billion trees in the next 10 years. The Mongolian people say that the source of life is water. The source of water is trees, so planting trees is very important. It rains where the trees grow. And a river is coming out and life begins. Also, the forests create favorable conditions for wildlife.

We are going to plant trees not only for ourselves, but for humanity, for children and for future generations. In Mongolia, desertification is a very serious issue.

Currently, Mongolia has a large area of desertification. It influences China, Korea and Japan. Also the sand is reaching as far as California. Therefore as for the President, it is very important to ensure ecological balance and take measures against environmental degradation”.
