Mongolia welcomes its 3 millionth citizen

Baby girl Mongoljin was registered as the lucky 3 millionth citizen of Mongolia. She was born into family of E.Khatanbold and G.Azzaya, residents of Dalanzadgad soum, Umnugobi aimag.

First born was welcomed to the world at 8:27 AM on January 24th and was registered as the 73th baby of that day. 

President congratulated the parents of baby girl E.Khatanbold and G.Azzaya on their new bundle of joy and on the request from parents named 3 millionth citizen MONGOLJIN.

181 new citizens were born on the same day and 29 of them were announced as contemporaries to the 3 millionth citizen.

Local governors also have identified its 3 millionth citizen contemporaries and the Government of Mongolia has approved the Aimag Governors to honor their 3 millionth citizen contemporaries with incentive of up to MNT 70 million.

Amgalan Maternity Hospital with 150 beds, Children Hospital with 140 beds in Bayangol district and Maternity Hospital with 50 beds in Suhbaatar aimag newly constructed with the MNT 3.1 billion of state budget. 

Mother and Child Health Center opened newly refurbished treatment room, which is able to provide intensive care treatment for infants with up-to-date facilities and convenient environment, meeting international standards.

Waiting room of National Trauma & Orthopedic Research Center was repaired and furnished while Blood Collection Centers were commissioned in all districts. 

By the investment from the city budget equalling to MNT 265 million, Han-Uul district`s Health Center was provided 4D-ultrasound​, EGG machine, automatic biochemical analyzer, otoscope​, autoclave and chest X ray. 

Mongolians united for many charity

A.Tserentogtoh saved his brother from fire and more than 80 percent of his body was caught on fire. As result, his internal organs such as liver, lung and kidney were affected. He neeeded MNT 350-400 million for the surgery and treatment. However, Mongolians united for charity campaign and raised the cost of treatment for him.  

Moreover, 25th Channel successfully implemented "MNT 1000" project among the public with the aim to purchase two eqiupments and artificial skin needed at Burn Center.

This year many charity campaigns were successfully held among the public. 

Everybody begun to fight against liver disease

As of today, there are 150 thousand patients carrying active virus C and 52,500 of them need to be treated immediately.

Sofosbuvir to treat the Hepatitis C infection has been officially registered in the Mongolian Drug Register almost after a year of delays. Three-month treatment costs USD 900 and six-month treatment is USD 1800. 

Ministry of Health and Sport and "Gilead sciences" Inc signed a Memorandum of Understanding on providing drugs which have 96-98 percent success result to treat the Hepatitis C infection named Sofosbuvir and Harvoni at discounted price starting October. However, the patients have not received the drugs yet. 

In addition, MYLAN, pharmaceutical distributor in US in cooperation with Mongolian Liver Pathology and Happy Veritas Diagnostic Center to provide drug Tenofovir to treat the Hepatitis B infection for 5000 patients at discounted price. 

Ministry of Health and Sports, Professional Physicians Association NGO, Pharmaceutical companies and public and private entities have joined forces for the C virus treatment. 

Cases of measles registered in Mongolia

Measles cases have spread in Mongolia since March 2015, which haven't been registered in Mongolia since 2010. 

As a result, Contagious Disease Research Center closed its ambulance and focused on patients infected with measles.

Even thought outbreak of the measles declined starting July, the spread of measles have not stopped until today.  

World Health Organization announced measles elimination in Mongolia. Although there have been recent outbreaks of measles in Mongolia after less than a year. 

100th kidney transplant surgery successful

Mongolian surgeons at the National Kidney Transplant Team have successfully conducted the 100th kidney transplant surgery. Kidney transplant surgery commenced in Mongolia in 2006 and the 100th successful surgery was conducted almost 10 years after.

In scope of Luxenburg project, high-cost cardiac surgery was conducted to 10 patients and National Liver Transplant Team have successfully conducted the liver transplant surgery to two patients. 

In addition, Neourosurgery Department of State Central Third Hospital in cooperation with PhD at Dankook University, South Korea Kim Yon Jun conducted brain surgery. 

Minister of Health and Sports arrested

The Secretary-General of Mongolian People's Revolutionary Party and Minister of Health and Sports G.Shiilegdamba was arrested on Dec 04 by the Independent Agency Against Corruption. The Minister was accused of corruption. At the time of arrest, a substantial amount of money was in his room and he said the money belongs to his friend. He submitted his resignation as minister in order not to hinder state work. 

He stated, “I did not commit any crime. I am confident of my innocence." 

He has heart disease and was detained in 461st Detention Unit for over a month. During that time, his physical condition worsened and taken to the Intensive Care Department of State Central Third Hospital. 

Deputy Minister Ts.Oyunbaatar is working as Acting Prime Minister of Health and Sports. He requested to resign from Deputy Minister and submitted to work as Minister of Health and Sports last week.
