The Ministry of Road and Transport Development reported that the Government of Mongolia-financed construction of the New Ulaanbaatar International Airport's (NUBIA) aerodrome building is at 74.7 percent completion.
Construction of the new airport in Khushig Valley started in 2013. Minister of Road and Transport Development J. Bat-Erdene stated that the NUBIA project involves the construction of 32 buildings at an estimated cost of 48 billion JPY, and the installation of airport machinery costing 1.5 billion JPY.
The project is being financed by a soft loan from the Japan Bank for International Cooperation. It is estimated that the new airport will employ up to 1,000 people.
