L.Battur, Director of the National Center for Communicable Diseases, made a report “We made a proposal to impose lockdown for 28 days at first. But the decision to impose 14 days of lockdown was made and it was decided to observe the number of cases and the number of deaths during the 14-day lockdown.
The lockdown was extended for another 12 days as the number of deaths did not decrease. The number of cases doubled every five days. Number of new cases will be more than 3000 each day unless strict lockdown wasn’t imposed. Strict lockdown helped stop rapid increase and stabilized. This is a great achievement. By September, 190,000 people were expected to be infected.
We have prevented 100,000 people from infection. Currently, total cases of Covid-19 are more than 100 thousand. Research whether mutant virus has spread between infected people is under process. We sent 20 samples to South Korea for a test. Our three virologists took another 20 samples to Japan. Results of the first 4 tests have been made and they were negative. The study will continue. Our specialists will identify the mutant virus starting from next month after their study.
PCR tests used special reagents and solutions to determine the presence of British, Brazilian, and South African variants. It became clear that the result of three citizens who arrived from the Republic of Turkey contained this form. It was also found in two members of the same family. Mutant virus was not detected in other samples. The British, Brazilian, and South African variants may have entered our country because the symptoms are rapid spread and severe mortality. Therefore, citizens should spend the remaining 12 days at home. The quarantine of the previous 14 days was not very effective. There was a lot of movement”.
