N.Nomtoibayar: Public demand for Prime Minister’s resignation is legitimate

N.Nomtoibayar, member of the Parliament and representative of the National coalition party, expressed support for the protests calling for the resignation of Prime Minister L.Oyun-Erdene, saying the demands are legitimate.

-The requirements are reasonable. By law, any government official must declare their income accurately. They must fill out and sign their income tax returns accurately. If they make a false declaration, they will be punished under the Law on Violations. This requirement is not only imposed on Prime Minister L.Oyun-Erdene, it can be imposed on anyone. As a father, as well as a high-ranking state official with authority, he can come to Mongolia and express his position. He is actively talking about the issue of resignation. What is stipulated in the Constitution regarding this situation, is that the Prime Minister submits to the Parliament whether he will resign or not. If I were, I would submit this issue directly.

The question is whether the Parliament will show confidence or not. I see this solution. This is my position. Since two members are appointed from the National Alliance, I did not discuss this issue. The youth who follow the party and follow influential party officials are far removed from the power and wealth of ordinary youth. This corrupt system must be broken economically by privatizing the state service.

A government study has estimated that transferring some state functions to the private sector could save MNT 10 trillion. State property must be privatized. There are 113 state-owned enterprises. Erdenet and Erdenes Tavantolgoi, which were profitable for many years, have gone bankrupt due to the high price of raw materials in the market. For example, the private sector with 200 employees extracts and exports 4 million tons of coal per year, while the state-owned company with 1,300 employees only extracts 2 million. So, in terms of economic efficiency, there is a problem and theft. 54% of the Development Bank's default loans have been covered by state-owned company loans. Why are there 126 members of the five parties in the Parliament? We want to reform the civil service.

The demonstration demanding the resignation of the Prime Minister to prove his income began yesterday and will continue today at 14:00. There is also a section that says that the resignation is useless and that the government should continue with its mega projects. In response to a journalist's question, N.Nomtoibayar emphasized that mega projects should not be disrupted by leadership changes, as these initiatives are approved by Parliament and are carried out by the state regardless of who holds office.
