T.Bayarkhuu: 5.2 million livestock died nationwide

Every ten days, the National Agency Meteorology and the Environmental Monitoring makes an assessment on the dzud situation. And the information is updated on the 20th of this month. The number of provinces and soums with iron and white dzud has decreased due to warm weather. Also, the amount of snow cover has also decreased nationwide.

As of March 19, 5,222,950 livestock have died nationwide. Sukhbaatar province has the highest number of deaths, which is 1.4 million. Khentii province- 720 thousand, Dornogovi province- 432 thousand, Arkhangai province- 474.7 thousand, Tuv province- 417.6 thousand, and Dundgovi province- 231.2 thousand.

2,728 herder households lost 70 or more of their livestock, while 380 herder households lost all their livestock. The National Emergency Commission is paying attention to include the provinces that have lost the most livestock in the assistance program. About 5,400 large cattles are gathered in the border strip where the herdsmen cannot travel.
