Ts.Battulga wins silver medal in shot put at Paris 2024 Paralympics

Ts.Battulga made history as the first Mongolian athlete to win a medal in Paralympic athletics, securing a silver medal in the F40 class shot put at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games.

Representing the Mongolian national team, Ts.Battulga competed against nine athletes in the F40 shot put category and achieved a silver medal with a throw of 11.09 meters.

His six attempts were as follows:

  • 9.61 meters
  • 9.72 meters
  • 10.30 meters
  • 10.48 meters
  • 11.09 meters
  • x (Attempt not counted)

The gold medal in this category was won by Portuguese athlete Miguel Monteiro with a throw of 11.21 meters, while the bronze medal went to an Iraq athlete who threw 11.03 meters.

Ts.Battulga, a 33 years old, previously won a bronze medal at the 2022 Asian Games and placed 8th at both the 2015 and 2024 World Championships. With this achievement, the Mongolian national team has now won 1 gold and 2 silver medals at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games.

The F40 category is specifically for athletes with short stature and shorter limbs.
