Coal - also called black gold - is the largest source of energy for the generation of electricity worldwide. But nowadays, the market for coal has decreased globally because it creates air pollution, greenhouse effect and countries are leaning toward cleaner energy source.
But in Mongolia, coal is widely spread mineral and it's our primary source of energy, as our power plants, industries are highly dependant on coal.
This will be brand new technology and Mongolia will be first to introduce it.
Yesterday, executives of "Nagata Engineering Co,.Ltd.", "Erdenes Mongol" LLC and relevant ministry officials signed "Experimental Dry Coal Preparation Plant" project agreement.
Financing for this project will be approximately 11 - 13 million US Dollar and Japanese will fund 70 - 80 percent and Erdenes Mongol will fund rest of the necessary finance. Mongolia will be responsible for construction and infrastructure.
This raises the main question: WHAT DO WE GET OUT OF THIS?
- Good quality product that meets international standart which creates new opportunity, and market.
- Increase in export income
- Reduce air pollution
- Environmental friendly and more efficient technology (save water)
- Creating employment for nationals
The staffs will consist of nationals and Japanese specialists to mentor Mongolians during the initial stages but after 2 years of operation the experimental plant will be transferred over to us.
