Biggest sports event in Mongolia "Ulaanbaatar Marathon 2017" will take place at the Sukhbaatar square on May 20.
Last year the marathon gathered a total of 24,383 runners from Mongolia, Austria, Japan, Bhutan, USA, and China.
The marathon has 2 categories - Amateur and Professional. Runners will start from Sukhbaatar square and after running specified routes, runners will finish back at Sukhbaatar square.
On this day, Ulaanbaatar city will hold its annual Car-Free Day on central streets of Ulaanbaatar city such as central roads from West intersection to East intersection will be closed from 8 a.m to 6 p.m.
The registration fee for all marathon categories is US$ 20 for foreign entrants, includes the pectoral number, t-shirt, napkin, introduction, and race routine.
Transfer the payment to Ulaanbaatar City Bank`s account 2611038120. Then bring the payment receipt at Physical Education and Sports Committee office, located at 3rd floor of Central Cultural Palace or relative sports committee in your district. In addition, you must fill out a registration form at www.ub-marathon.ub.gov.mn to verify your registration.
PROFESSIONAL MARATHON
The professional category is divided into half - 21 km; and full - 42 km distances and includes both foreign and domestic professional runners above age 18.
In 2016, Mongolian State Honored athlete B.Ser-Od (2 hours 18 minutes) in male category and International Master of Sports B.Munkhzaya (2 hours 37 minutes) in female category won gold medals respectively in the full 42 km.
PS: Registration deadline of professional half 21 km and full 42 km distances is May 18.
AMATEURS` MARATHON
Amateurs' marathon is divided into 3 distances with 4 age groups. Specifically, 5 km distance will include ages between 12-17, 18-35, 36-54, 55 and above; and 10 km distance includes everyone above age 18.
There is also marathon designed for families and people with disabilities for 1.5 km distance.
PS: Registration deadline of all amateur marathons is May 17.
Runners who finish in 1-10th places in any category will be rewarded with medals, certificate and cash prize.
