The "Khunnu Mongol Treasure Chess," an extraordinary piece of art created by R.Bayasgalan, Mongolian artist, represents 20 years of dedication and expertise. This unique chess set combines the ancient culture, symbols, and idols of the Hun Dynasty with modern craftsmanship and technology.
This masterpiece was unveiled on January 27, 2025, in the "Silver Tree" hall of the Chinggis Khaan National Museum. It is not only a tribute to the history of the Mongolian Hun Dynasty and the ancient Dragon City but also serves as a cultural ambassador to the world.
Before being auctioned in Hong Kong in March, the chess set is currently on display in Mongolia for a month to allow locals to visit.
President U.Khurelsukh’s decree to “intensify the study of Mongolian history” and promote national heritage has inspired artists like R.Bayasgalan to create works that highlight Mongolia’s contributions to world history. During the opening ceremony, R.Bayasgalan expressed his hope to showcase the Mongolian origins of chess through this monumental work.
The event was attended by prominent figures, including G.Zandanshatar, President of the Mongolian Chess Federation, J.Galbadrakh, Member of Parliament, and A. Davaasuren, State Secretary of the Ministry of Sports and Tourism.
The "Khunnu Mongol Treasure Chess" is already being hailed by international chess researchers and collectors as a masterpiece, rivaling and potentially surpassing the renowned "Gem Chess Royale" set.
