This year marks the 25th anniversary of Mongolian State Morin Khuur Ensemble.
By the initiative of Batchuluun Tsend, a Morin Khuur teacher, the Morin Khuur Ensemble was established in 1992, to represent Mongolia’s traditional music in the global scene. In 1994, a ministerial ordinance was issued to affiliate the ensemble to State Philharmonic.
In commemoration of its 25th anniversary, the ensemble is working on several new concerts and compositions, one of which is ‘Novel Melody’ concert which is to be held on April 16, Sunday at the State Philharmonic.
Demonstrating the professionalism and shining talents of the ensemble, the concert is one of the special concerts the ensemble presents to its listeners this year.
Every composition to be played at the ‘Novel Melody’ concert is new to the ears of Morin Khuur fans such as music by Ryuichi Sakamoto, Claude Debussy, Manuel Ponce, Gabriel Faure and Mongolian composer T.Purevsukh.
