The Ministry of Environment and Tourism, National Police, National Emergency Management Agency, National Agency Meteorology and the Environmental Monitoring, Tavan Tolgoi Tulsh LLC and other relevant officials provided information on air quality in the capital city last week.
The air quality in the capital city was low last Thursday and Friday due to wind. According to the National Committee for Environmental Pollution Reduction, air pollution was moderate and low at 09:00 this morning, compared to air pollution on Saturday and Sunday.
During the cabinet meeting of January 12, Minister of Environment and Tourism, the Minister of Energy, and the Governor of Ulaanbaatar were obliged to to establish a working group to inspect the quality of middling and coal, which are the main raw materials for refined coal, and to make laboratory conclusions and review coal standards.
According to this, a working group led by N.Urtnasan, Minister of Environment and Tourism, and N. Tavinbekh, Minister of Energy, conducted an unexpected inspection at western and eastern factories of Tavan Tolgoi Tulsh LLC and households in the capital city.
B.Altanzul, Head of the working group of the National Committee for Environmental Pollution Reduction, reported "We have studied the causes of the increase in air pollution in the capital city and seen the fire burning process of households. Conclusions have been released since yesterday. Older cars and unqualified fuels make a lot of smoke and influence air pollution”.
