The government of Mongolia declared 2023-2025 as the "Year of Visiting Mongolia" and established a National Committee for Tourism Development, setting a goal of receiving one million tourists in 2023.
As the beginning of the goal, the tourist program "New Year in Mongolia" will be organized between December 25, 2022 and January 10, 2023 in order to support winter tourism. The program will be implemented under the cooperation of the Ministry of Environment and Tourism, the Governor’s office, Ulaanbaatar City Tourism Department and the Mongolian Tourism Association.
Within the framework of the program, 176 enterprises and 728 service organizations in nine sectors of hospitality services operating in Ulaanbaatar will give discounts and incentives of 5-50%.
In particular:
- 17 hotels,
- 65 restaurants,
- 18 bars, pubs, karaoke,
- 10 large shopping centers and department stores,
- 325 branches of grocery stores,
- 10 wool and cashmere shops,
- 24 branches of four electronics stores,
- 4 sauna and massage centers,
- 14 organizations of health and beauty services,
- 14 organizations with New Year programs and entertainment services have joined the program.
Organizers emphasized that this program will be the beginning of increasing the number of tourists coming to Mongolia in winter.
Related to this, representatives of the government and private organizations participating in the "New Year in Mongolia" program held a meeting on December 22, and made a discussion. During the meeting, M.Yesunmunkh, the President of Mongolian Restaurant Association, said “Organizations participating in the program will place advertisements at the entrance. And the tourists will be able to easily identify discounts. The program is being organized for the first time, so there might be some mistakes. Let’s correct those mistakes next year and make contributions to winter tourism”.
Starting from November, more than 60 foreign medias announced news and information about the program for tourists coming to Mongolia. Also, the manuals prepared under the program will be distributed at border ports and airports. Also 24 hour telephone for tourists and platforms are under operation.
In particular, Ulaanbaatar City Tourism Department initiated the "UB Winter sale" project and launched the "UB Winter" mobile application and the www.UBwinter.com website. Tourists can get information on products and services in 5 languages.
Also, the phone number 70108687 of Ulaanbaatar city Tourism Department provides information to tourists in English and Russian for 24 hours a day.
