Minister of Foreign Affairs received Mongolians in Turkey

On March 11, 2023, B.Battsetseg, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia, held a meeting with representatives of Mongolian citizens living in Istanbul, Turkey as part of her official visit to the Republic of Turkey.

At the beginning of the meeting, the Minister of Foreign Affairs gave information about the measures taken by the government of Mongolia, progress in bilateral relations between Mongolia and Turkey, and the importance of the visit, and answered the comments and questions raised by the citizens.

Mongolian citizens are working in many sectors in Turkey, such as health, education, tourism, trade, and services. And during the meeting, they discussed their proposals in detail in each sector.

In particular, the citizens have made requests to provide children with school and kindergarten, and to teach Mongolian languages. Furthermore, citizens working in the medical sector expressed their proposal to expand cooperation between Mongolian and Turkish health institutions and introduce good practices.

Over 2 million tourists visit Turkey per annum, and the Mongolian tourism company MIAT, which operates in Istanbul, and the airline company licensed to fly to Turkey, expressed their desire to cooperate with them and asked for support.

B.Battsetseg, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, expressed that she would submit the requests raised by the citizens to the relevant Ministries and work to solve them.

The Minister also mentioned that actions are being taken to improve the legal environment by encouraging and supporting the activities of Mongolian companies aiming to supply Mongolian products to the Turkish market, and emphasized that some documents will be facilitated with the Turkish side during the visit.

In recent years, relations and trade cooperation between the citizens of Mongolia and Turkey have increased dramatically, and the foreign trade turnover of both sides reached USD 110 million in 2022.

Over 6,000 Mongolian citizens live in Turkey, and about 3,000 of them live with official permits.
